FAQs

What is the difference between hospice care and hospice support?

Hospice care is a medically supervised program provided by licensed hospice agencies that focuses on comfort and pain management for individuals nearing the end of life. Hospice support, like the nonmedical care provided by Sense of Peace, complements that medical care by assisting with personal care, companionship, and daily needs so families can focus on spending meaningful time together.

How does Sense of Peace work alongside hospice care providers?

We work directly with hospice care providers to ensure every client receives comprehensive, coordinated support. While the hospice team manages medical needs, our caregivers are there to assist with personal care, daily activities, and emotional support, filling the gaps so no one ever feels alone during this time.

What nonmedical support can a caregiver provide during hospice care?

Our caregivers provide a wide range of nonmedical support including personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, companionship and emotional support, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and overnight care. Having a dedicated caregiver in place allows family members to rest and be present in the ways that matter most.

Can I have both a hospice care provider and a private caregiver at the same time?

Yes. Many families choose to supplement their hospice care provider with a private caregiver from Sense of Peace to ensure their loved one has consistent, around-the-clock support. Our caregivers work alongside your hospice team to provide the additional nonmedical care and companionship that makes a meaningful difference during this time.

How do I know if my loved one needs additional support beyond what the hospice provider offers?

Hospice providers typically focus on medical care and may not be available around the clock for nonmedical needs. If your loved one needs help with personal care, companionship, or daily activities, or if you as a family caregiver need relief, additional support from Sense of Peace may be the right fit. We are happy to talk through your situation and help you determine the level of care that makes the most sense for your family.
